Industrial art: The beauty of fermentation tanks

These photos are from Nicolas Feuillatte, a large co-op which makes some very nice Champagnes, particularly the Palme d'Or Brut Rosé 2004, which is one of the best Champagnes I've had. I don't think they make that wine in these tanks. But this just goes to show there's beauty all around us, and sometimes you need a camera to realize it.

Many of those will be the holding tanks for the “reserve” wine from the previous year, Champagne companies always look so big until you realize they may be holding 20-40% of the previous year’s still wine from 100 growers.

You're probably right. I confess, whatever they were saying about these tanks sort of faded as background buzz because I got out my camera just mesmerized by the image. It's all lighting and angle and all that. There's no photoshop; it's basically digital point-and-shoot.
